Sniffin privacy policy

This policy describes information handling in Sniffin for iPhone and iPad, support correspondence, and the Sniffin pages at pimth.com/sniffin/. Website hosting and email services operate separately from the app’s local storage.

1. What the app stores and why

Sniffin stores the information you choose to enter and your game progress in the app’s private storage on your device to display profiles, history and statistics and save your pet world:

• Dog profiles: name, breed, weight, height, coat color, ear style, sex, birthday, personality, notes and any attached photo.
• Stool records: the relevant dog, date and time, amount in grams, color, odor, consistency, notes and any attached photo.
• Game data in version 1.1: companion appearance, each dog’s level and XP, Coins, furniture inventory, home layout, artifacts, achievements, daily goals, expeditions and related timestamps, and reward receipts used to prevent duplicate claims.
• Information used to organize entries, such as record identifiers, profile creation dates, your last selected dog profile, and language, sound and haptic preferences.

The app has no user accounts, advertising, tracking or analytics. It does not send dog profiles, records, photos or game progress to a developer server. It does not analyze photos with AI or request location, contacts or microphone access.

2. Camera and photos

The app requests camera access only when you choose to take a photo. For existing images, it uses the system photo picker and receives the photo you select without requiring access to your entire library. Photos are optional. You can manage camera permission in your device’s Settings.

Images saved in the app are resized and encoded as new image files without retaining the original location metadata. Originals in your photo library are not changed or deleted. The 3D character uses a non-AR view and does not activate the camera.

3. Backups and other devices

Sniffin does not provide cross-device sync or use CloudKit to sync records. Depending on your settings, iOS/iPadOS backups in iCloud or on a computer may include app data. Such backups and restoration are governed by Apple’s services and your settings. We do not hold a copy of your records on a developer server.

4. Retention and deletion

Local app data stays on the device until you change or delete it, or the system manages that storage. You can edit or delete individual records and remove attached photos by saving the change. To remove all companion profiles, care records, photos and game progress stored by the app, open the gear button for Settings → Delete all data and confirm. This also resets the home, inventory and rewards.

Deleting data within the app does not delete original photos in your library or previously created backups. Manage those copies through your backup settings or the device holding them. The developer cannot remotely delete or restore data on your device. See the deletion steps.

5. When you contact support

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to answer your question and investigate the issue you report. The email services used to send and receive correspondence process it according to their services and policies. Share only what is necessary. You can contact us about your correspondence or request deletion of messages we retain, subject to legal obligations or necessary retention.

6. This website and hosting

The Sniffin pages are served through GoDaddy hosting. Visiting the website provides the hosting service with technical request information, which may include your IP address, request time and path, browser information and performance measurements, to deliver pages, maintain security and operate the service. The hosting provider may add performance monitoring or use its own technologies according to the service configuration.

The Sniffin pages we create contain no data submission forms or advertising or analytics code added by us. This does not mean the hosting service collects no website data. Website activity is separate from your in-app records; opening this website does not send your dog profiles or records from the app. See GoDaddy’s privacy policy for more information.

7. Changes to this policy

If information handling changes, we will update this page and its effective date to reflect the app and related services.
